Wolves often allied with the forces of the Enemy and sometimes they would serve as steeds for orcs, who would then be known as Wolfriders. Morgoth bred the two greatest of their kind, Draugluin and Carcharoth. Wargs were known as the ferocious and intelligent race of wolves that lived in the northern regions of Middle-Earth. Bilbo and his friends were attacked by wargs and had to flee into the trees where they were rescued by the Eagles.
