The Tour: Rohan

Lothlorien Welcome to Rohan! Rohan is the name of the Kingdom of the the Rohirrim, the horse-lords, ruled by King Theoden from his Golden Hall in Edoras. Rohan is made of far stretches of rolling grasslands where many horses roam. The Rohirrim are renowned for their horses and the skill with which they train and breed their horses. The strongest and fastest of these horses was Shadowfax, who was tamed by Gandalf. When Gandalf came to Edoras to ask King Theoden for his assistance, he did not get the warm welcome he was hoping for. Grima, a spy of Saruman, had convinced the King that he was weak and that Gandalf brought nothing but trouble. Gandalf pursuaded the King however and showed him the force he still had and the true identity of Grima, who he called Wormtongue."

Pursuit through Rohan Pursuit through Rohan
When the Fellowship broke up Sam and Frodo went east towards Mordor, while Merry and Pippin were captured by Orcs who wanted to bring them to Isengard. When Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas discovered that Merry and Pippin were captured and taken north, they decided that they had to find them first. This is how they started their pursuit all the way from Amon Hen to the woods of Fangorn. They ran almost all the way, taking practically no breaks and covering an amazing distance in the shortest time. It was during their pursuit that they met Eomer son of Eomund, the Third Marshall of Riddermark. Although suspicious at first Eomer quickly learned the true identity of Aragorn and his two fellow travellers. It was Eomer who attacked and killed the band of Orcs that had taken Merry and Pippin to the edges of Fangorn. Eomer told Aragorn that they had not found any hobbits amongst the bodies and that they were heading back to Edoras. Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli decided to continue their search for Merry and Pippin."

Pursuit through Rohan Helm's Deep
(AUDIO: King Theoden's Battle Cry)
"Thanks to Gandalf, King Theoden had refound his strength and he was now determined to fight Saruman and his evil forces. He called upon his riders that there was a war to be fought: " Arise now, arise, Riders of Theoden! Dire deeds awake, dark is it eastward. Let horse be bridled, horn be sounded! Forth Eorlingas!". The Riders of the Mark were gathered and determined to travel to Isengard to destroy the enemy. It was in Helm's Deep that the big battle was fought and where Eomer and Aragorn fought side-by-side. Their two swords flashed from the sheath as one.
"Guthwine!", cried Eomer. "Guthwine for the Mark!"
"Anduril!" cried Aragorn. "Anduril for the Dunedain!"
Gimli and Legolas were also there, fighting for all that they were worth. They kept scores as they slew their enemies one by one. The enemy was on the winning hand, however, and they destroyed the defense walls. When all seemed lost the sound of the great horn of Helm rang out. King Theoden had arrived with his host and they immediately attacked the enemy who was now filled with terror. The Riders greeted him by shouting: "Helm! Helm! Helm is arisen and comes back to war. Helm for Theoden King! Then finally Gandalf arrived and the enemy fled filled with madness and the battle was won."
