Lembas is the name of the special cakes the Elves created specially for travelling. It was very nutricous and yet easy to carry. Galadriel gave packages of Lembas rapped in leaves to the Fellowship of the Ring to aid them during their quest. During Frodo and Sam's journey through Mordor they only had Lembas as provisions and without lembas they would never have made it.
