The Lord of the Rings is an epic fantasy, with depth to match such books as David Copperfield. And not only depth kept this book alive for so many years, but the shear brilliance of the story, its characters, and the deep uncharted roads of middle Earth, and the mystery behind all of them. Just the place in which the books take place in is amazing, and there is no question in my mind that J.R.R. Tolkein deserves the title, author of the century."
