MUME

MUME is a multi-user roleplaying game based upon J.R.R. Tolkien's writings about the world of Middle Earth. Set in the late Third Age, before The Hobbit and after the loss of the One Ring by Sauron, MUME offers the most accurate on-line recreation of Tolkien's world.

Within the game you'll meet such familiar characters as Tom Bombadil, Old Man Willow and Cirdan the Shipwright, visit places like Bree, Rivendell, Moria, Fornost, Ost-in-Edhil and more. Details as specific as different races speaking the appropriate Tolkien languages, days being shorter or longer depending on the season, shops opening and closing depending on the hour are among the many things that make the MUME world so appealing. Equipment and non-player characters are created to ensure everything blends into this carefully crafted Tolkien realm.

ElvenRunes is dedicated to paying tribute to this finely crafted MUD and expanding the players knowledge of Tolkien's works and giving the MUME community a place to share information about themselves with others.

ElvenRunes offers free hosting for player sites. Character assistance in the form of stat generators, random name generators and columns on roleplay written by players and presented in a clear professional fashion. The People section gives information on the people behind the MUME characters, updates on their real life achievements and lighthearted humor in the form of in-character horoscopes and a humor column. On-line polls, a feedback page, game logs and more allow players to interact and contribute their experiences and views.
